Fast forward to my university days at the esteemed Technical University of Groningen in the Netherlands, where I delved deeper into my passion while pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. It was during this time that I stumbled upon a treasure trove of machinery and equipment tucked away in a basement—a labyrinth of clanking gears, whirring motors, and ominous sounds of machinery in distress.

 

Rather than shy away, I found myself drawn to these troubled contraptions, intrigued by the challenge of deciphering their woes through sound alone.

 

How could I mend a malfunctioning engine based solely on its auditory cues? It was a puzzle I was determined to solve.

Hello, I'm Rob—a mechanical aficionado with roots tracing back to the Netherlands. My journey led me to the corridors of academia, where I honed my skills and earned my engineering stripes at the Technical University of Groningen. Upon graduating, I embarked on a remarkable chapter of my career, joining the ranks of food industry titan Cargill as their trusted "last resort engineer." When seasoned mechanics threw in the towel, I was their beacon of hope, jetting off to distant locations as the Global Engine Troubleshooter.

A decade ago, I decided to trade bustling boardrooms for the serene landscapes of New Brunswick, Canada. Little did I know, my penchant for resuscitating lifeless engines would precede me. Before long, neighbors were flocking to my backyard, bearing gifts of defunct generators and ailing engines, eager for my diagnostic touch.

Listening intently, diagnosing meticulously, and repairing with precision—these have become my hallmarks. Today, I find myself with a devoted following of neighbors, friends of friends, and beyond, all of whom have encouraged me to extend my "listening" services to a wider audience.
